Our Oceans are on the brink with Seventy seven percent of our fish stocks being fished beyond a sustainable level.

What can we do to help?
Growing food sustainably makes a huge impact not only on our own health but also for our surrounding environment. Planting a small garden in raised beds, window boxes or wherever you can fit a large pot will have an impact even if you cant see it. Large scale industrial farming has dedicated vast amounts of land to a single crop causing a virtual wasteland for many local species. This forces pollinators to travel further than before to find the biodiversity they require to survive. Your small window box could be a miniature paradise to your local Bee or Butterfly.
Being aware of the products you buy is another way you can help stop the damage being done to our oceans. There are sustainable choices you can make when at the grocery store. Make sure the fish you buy is on the safe list. For example if you are buying Salmon make sure it came from Alaska. This may seem like an insignificant action in the moment but if we all start choosing the best option for our planet things will change.
Aquaponics is a great solution for growing large amounts of food using 90% less water than normal farming techniques. It is also a great option for growing food in harsh environments like deserts.

This is my first time seeing Aquaponics. Pretty genius. I really like this blog.
